List of SUVs with 3rd Row Seating Capacity

Finding an SUV with a third row seat is really not that difficult these days.  Auto manufactures have a number of great models out on the market.  Below you will find a list of 5 great SUVs with 3rd row seating.  In addition, throughout the rest of this site, you will find several other SUVs that meet this criteria.

Chevy Tahoe

The Chevrolet Tahoe is one of the best selling of SUVs with 3rd row seating. The Chevy Tahoe was something of a pioneer when it was introduced, being marketed as a hybrid of mountain toughness and family orientation. In recent years , though, it has been redesigned and beefed up. The V8, 5.3 liter engine is more than ample for most driving, and it comes in 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive varieties. The quality and design of the Chevy Tahoe interior has also been improved, and buyers are impressed with its comfort and roominess.

Chevy Suburban

The Chevrolet Suburban has become the “family car” of SUVs. By all accounts, this vehicle is strong, and it’s rugged underpinnings assure a generally comfortable ride, though ride can vary according to a number of factors. For instance, observers have noted that the Suburban is not sluggish when empty, but loaded it can feel unresponsive, while others have criticized its handling on tight roads. Passenger room is spacious, however, with its 3rd row seating. Although not considered a luxurious ride, it has a strong following, and used Suburbans retain their value quite well.

Ford Expedition

The Ford Expedition seats up to eight passengers, and Consumer Guide has said it”[is] among the best of any SUV” in the class of SUVs with 3rd row seating. Removing the 3rd row seat renders the Expedition’s more than 130 square foot interior suitable for many large loads. Though the interior is somewhat lackluster in other respects, many reviewers compliment it on its great handling and towing capacity. The ride is pleasant, smooth, and handles well around corners. Unfortunately, The Expedition will hurt you at the gas station, though recent innovations have made strides in this area.

Ford Explorer

The Ford Explorer ushered in the era of the SUV in the early 1990s. It wasn’t the first, but its catholic appeal led to a firestorm of sales, and made the SUV perhaps the most versatile vehicle on the market at that time. Year after year the model retains its luster, with great stability, options, powerhouse V8 (also available in V6), and a towing capacity that matches or emulates its peers.

The current, third, generation offers more features than its predecessors, and models since 2006 incorporate the late safety technologies. Like its little brother, the Expedition, the Explorer is not conservative on gas, at least the V8 version, but it’s agreed that SUVs owners look for features, and not gas economy, when they choose their vehicles.

Dodge Journey

The Dodge Journey, with its midsized SUV sensibleness and sound suburban styling, wants to be all things to all men: a practical car suitable for mom, and a brawny workhorse for dad. Regardless of which demographic you fit into, one thing everyone can agree on is that the Journey is a great ride, with its roomy interior and removable 3rd row seat, though the former has been criticized for its mediocre conventionality and uninspiring style.

Nevertheless, the Journey’s versatility in converting itself from a passenger car to a cargo mover has appeal to a great many buyers, and its exterior styling easily outstrips most other SUVs.
